Belgaum: Finally, the train services between Belagavi and Vasco have been resumed as the mud and debris at the landslide between Castle Rock and Caranzol station have been cleared.
According to the South Western Railway (SWR) authorities, the plying of trains has been resumed. However, as intimated earlier, trains’ short termination and cancellation will continue as informed on Saturday.
“After continuous and untiring efforts despite heavy rainfall, the landslide between Castle Rock and Caranzol Stations of Braganza Ghat section of Hubballi Division has been cleared. The track has been restored and certified ‘fit’ at approx 12 pm today,” Chief PRO Aneesh Hegde informed.
Immediately, a locomotive was run on the track and tested (Engine rolling test) to assess and certify the fitness of the track with regard to the safety parameters.
“Train services have resumed and at about 3.30 pm today; a goods train has run down the Ghat.
As a precautionary measure, a speed restriction of 10 kmph has been imposed, for now. However, as previously notified via bulletins, the short termination/diversion/short origination/partial or full cancellations will hold good,” Chief PRO Hegde said. Any change in train services, will be notified, he added. Source: the Goan
