Belgaum: 22 schools which were closed due to leopard scare have started functioning starting August 16.
Schools and colleges were closed when Covid was at its peak and now due to leopard scare schools in the vicinity of Golf course remained closed for 10 days.
It must be noted that examination of schools falls in August. Schools cannot afford to give holidays.
The parents and school going children should practice utmost care and precaution when they are in and around the school. Leopards do not attack humans unless cornered.
They attack when they see a smaller prey when hungry. The leopard has managed to remain elusive after it was spotted in camera trap on Monday.
Some people reportedly saw it jumping over the golf course ground on Saturday. The department is keeping a strict vigil in and around Golf course.
Meanwhile water resources minister Govind Karjol who was in Belgaum to Hoist the National flag on independence say said that Mudhol hounds which is a breed of Dog will be used to trace the elusive leopard.
Mudhol dogs are a unique breed earlier used for hunting. The unique feature of the breed is its height which is usually 26-28 inches.
Mudhol dogs have been inducted into the Indian Army for surveillance and border protection assignments.
